Christmas Market - York, UK : York wasn't satisfied with just one Christmas Market or even 2 .......... it has 6 planned for this year! the festivities kick off with the Children's Christmas Fayre From 17 Nov 2006 to 19 Nov 2006. This market, specially for the children, has lots of stalls offering gifts, novelties and food and features live entertainment as well. For 3 days from 23rd November until 26th November is the St Nicholas Fair & Mediaeval Market held in a mediaeval townhouse and featuring stalls selling traditonal craft items. Appropriately costumed stall-holders will be eager to help you find that perfect gift you need. Elsewhere in the town you'll discover the St Nicholas Fayre and Market with stalls in a number of different locations around the city centre. You're sure to find the items on your shopping list and, whilst having a break, sample the delicious speciality food and drinks on offer. This year York also hosts its first German 'Christkindlesmarkt' from 1st December until 17th December. The emphasis of this market is on the celebration of Advent and you'll find stalls selling arts and crafts alongside the speciality foods and drinks. From the 1st of December until the 10th December you'll also be able to visit the 'Made In Yorkshire Crafts at Christmas', Market where you'll find an inspirational assortment of items, made by the craftsmen of Yorkshire, for sale. You'll find a bewildering array of gifts, glass, wood and ceramics, furniture, jewellery, textiles and art works. Lastly, but definitely not least, is the Christmas Farmers' Market From 16 Dec to 17 Dec. Here, in St. Sampson's Square, you'll be able to fill the shelves of your food store with home produced organic meat, vegetables and dairy products. You'll also find an assortment of other locally produced gifts and items for the home. York has plenty of dates on offer for your diary! |
