Christmas Market - Birmingham, UK :

Each festive season Birmingham hosts a Christmas Market and its popularity grows with each passing year. There will be over 75 stalls filling Victoria Square and the upper end of New Street. It claims to be the largest authentic German Christmas Market outside Germany or Austria. It will be open from mid November until late December from 10am until 8pm each day. Many of the stalls feature traditional German crafts, for example wooden toys and marionettes, and will include those selling a wide selection of ceramics, candles, glassware, jewellery and decorations. No Christmas market is complete without the German Gluhwein (mulled wine), sausages, marzipan and gingerbread. This year there will also be a stall selling fresh German bread and confectionery each day.

Interestingly, it seems that the Christmas Market in Frankfurt itself dates back to the end of the 14th century when the craftsmen of the city would present their finest wares at a special market for the burghers of the city.
